it's amazing how they just know...

My heart just melted when I spotted little Lucy snuggling in with big sister Alice on the couch today. Alice has been resting a swollen ankle since Sunday, and has since been battling a high fever as well. We're hoping to be rid of whatever ails her very soon. Even Alice giggled when Lucy tried to brush her hair for her and give her a little TLC. Too cute! I'm tellin' you this is what makes my world go round!!

(On a side note: it's startling to me sometimes to see how much Lucy looks like her big sister Alice at that same age. Lucy is definitely her "mini-me.")

That is so sweet!
I have to tell you, I tried your strawberry-rhubarb dump cake last night (with lots of strawberries thrown in of course!). it was delicious, although a bit runny...oh well, everyone enjoyed it!
I hope your daughter is feeling better soon!

And the two of them look like little "mini me's" of their Mama! So cute...I know what you mean about loving catching those moments. I overhear my kids talking and giggling with each other from the other room and it just melts my heart!

Any news on how Alice is doing? I keep thinking about her, hoping her fever is down and her ankle healing so she can get back to playing!

thanks for the kind thoughts, and prayers. Today we had her rechecked because still running the mystery fever, and swelling was up a bit. Dr is a bit mystified as well, thinking it's possible it could be a virus that's settled in the joint (since she never really injured the ankle...just woke up sunday with pain/swelling) But apparently joint infection is unlikely in children. So, bloodwork at the hospital and a strep culture to rule out other things and if fever/swelling continue tomorrow, we may need to meet with a joint specialist. Tonight she was without a fever for the first time since Tuesday, and actually ate a piece of cold pizza for a snack. (starting to get an appetite again?) So, I'm really hoping tomorrow will bring good news with test results, feeling better, etc...and back to normal after the weekend!!! Thanks again for asking.

My cousins daughter developed a bone infection after a slight heel injury (they'd thought it was just deeply bruised)...It was easily take care of with some anitbiotics. I'm sure the doctors are checking into all the options and she might just have had a virus on top of hurting her ankle. My son had strep last week...we've had more things since school's been out than before! I'm glad her fever was down and she was eating a bit. It's no fun to be sidelined when the weather is so beautiful! Keeping her in our prayers...
